Showing me a world I never knew

I had Brittany over today. We watched our show. And then we listened to music. And then we talked. We talked of how we love black and white.

Of how her whole room is black and white. Of how I keep my camera in black and white mode.

We discussed of how we love black and white pictures most of all. Of how we love sitting and looking at black and white pictures. Of wishing we were in decades past.

Yes, sometimes the colors are too beautiful not to capture but most of the time, black and white photos are best.

They are simple. Classic. Beautiful. Timeless. Perfection.

There is something about black and white pictures that are just so wonderful. There are really no words for it. You can look at a photo and imagine the colors for yourself. Paint a picture in your mind. Beautiful.

I always think that the color in the pictures will fade. And if there is a fold in the picture, the whole photograph is ruined.

If there is a fold in a black and white photo, it just adds to the beauty of the picture. It makes it that much more of a memory. You feel that not only are you looking in on a specific moment of stolen time, but if you just look at the photograph long enough, hard enough, you could actually be there. Timeless.

The aged black and white photo might not be in the condition you would want it to be, but neither is the memory of the time the picture was taken. Some parts of the memory may be clearer than others. But the feeling you get when you remember, when you look at the picture, is the same. It’s untarnished in its own way. Perfection.

I’m not saying color is unnacceptable, just that sometimes you’ll find, it’s better black and white.
